• Name: Manuel Reza (born on 29/11/1989)
  • Position: Research Assistant in TeCIP Institute for Scuola Sant’Anna di Pisa
  • Studies: He received the M.S. degree in Electronic Engineering in 2013 from Università degli Studi di Pavia, Italy, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, in 2019.
  • Previous experiences: Post-graduate research assistant at University of Glasgow in 2019.

Scientific Interests:

His early research interests have been in the area of mid-infrared photonics for sensing applications. He has been involved in the full development cycle of active mid-infrared sources and detectors, including the design and the epitaxial growth of III-V semiconductors, the layout mask design and the fabrication of the devices, and their experimental characterisation. Later, he studied methodologies, techniques and technologies for the hybrid integration of mid-infrared semiconductor devices onto silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platforms for the realisation of fully integrated photonic sensing systems. Currently, he is involved in projects related to the design of photonic integrated circuits for microwave applications, in particular optical and optically-assisted beamforming, photonic RF scanners, coherent MIMO radars and space-borne SCORE-SAR systems
